Mac Tonnies "interviews" Whitley Strieber

Mac on a road trip production for a documentary with the CBC

During one late night phone call, Mac Tonnies told me about a back and forth series of questions he asked Whitley Strieber. Years ago, in a long ago era of the internet, Whitley briefly maintained a simple on-line bulletin board system. His goal was to provide a forum to answer questions from his readers. Mac used this forum to connect with Whitley; this must have been sometime in the early 90's.

I just found the interview on Mac's website, it's still on-line, and it makes for bittersweet reading. The interview is posted HERE and it is in a readable print-ready PDF format below.

If I remember the conversation correctly, Mac sent in questions over a period of time (perhaps weeks), and then collected his questions and replies from the forum and ganged them all into one document, and this document created an "interview" of sorts. I clearly remember him explaining to me how impressed he was with the thoughtful quality and seriousness in the way Whitley answered those questions.

Last night I did an audio interview with a Trice Sheridan, she is a researcher and director for ICAR. I had met Trice at a series of UFO conferences, and I found her to be wonderfully thoughtful and dedicated to her research. We've corresponded a little over the years, and it was me who suggested to her that I be a guest on her audio show, something I don't normally do.

Before the show, I sent her a few links to some of my blog postings and interviews, and she dug into this stuff in a way that left me impressed.

William Henry calls himself an investigative Mytholgyst, and that’s a term I really like. I’ve followed his work for the last decade, and I am continually impressed with his ideas and insights. He has researched ancient Egyptian artwork, pre-Renaissance art, gnostic texts and hidden messages within the world's mythology.

His most recent book, THE SECRET OF SION looks deeply into the early paintings and representations of Jesus, and he concludes there is a symbolic message hidden in those works. Could it be that Jesus is an avatar from a race of advanced light beings who dwell at the center of our galaxy and travel via wormhole to and from this cosmic center?

Okay, what is the artist trying to tell us?

The painting above is The Transfiguration by Fra Angelico. Jesus wears the blinding cloak of light. The Taoists call it "the diamond body," and those who have attained it are called "the immortals" and "the cloudwalkers." Yogic schools call it "the divine body." In the Old Testament it’s called the Cloak of Many Colors. In the Hermetic Corpus, it is called "the immortal body." In the alchemical tradition, the Emerald Tablet calls it “the golden body."

Is this an actual garment? Or is it a metaphor?

Lucretia Heart has just posted a new series of essays at her SPIRALS END site. As always, they are detailed, thoughtful, well written and utterly fascinating.

The Issue of Compromised Abductees

So I know I'm not the only one who has faced this odd knowledge that I've done things apparently on behalf of the aliens to other abductees. This lends another entire layer to the question of what exactly is going on. I'm human. I've grown up here. Yet I've acted on their behalf. How many times? Would I have agreed to this sort of behavior in my normal mind state if I knew the reasons? Would I think these reasons justified my actions? I don't remember enough to say yet.

Oh those numbers...

Alan is the editor of THE SYNC BOOK and a first hand experiencer of some profoundly intense synchronicities.

Oh those numbers...

I just found another 1234 and it seems sorta easy to figure out what it might be trying to tell me. Just so y'all know, this number seems to show up a LOT in my life, sometimes in overtly synchro-resonant ways.

I occasionally check my blog stats, and this number jumped out at me. This is the total number of page hits from a post way back in 2009. This was an excellent audio interview with Christopher Knowles (of The Secret Sun). Curiously, this was the very first interview I did in my role as pod-caster. It seems funny that this post would chime in at 1234 right at the moment I checked in. I see it as a less than subtle nudge to do more interviews!

I remember clearly how excited (and nervous) I was during the conversation with Mr. Knowles. I've been deeply impressed with his insights about these mysterious topics. If you haven't heard it, I strongly recommend listening to this interview!

My process is sorta all over the map.

I say the same thing over and over and over. I have all these puzzle pieces that are interlocked on the table, and they absolutely make a picture. There are pieces missing but I can certainly infer what's in those blank spots. I'm left to conclude that I am an alien abductee. But, without knowing absolutely what’s inside those blank areas, it just feels dishonest to make that claim.

So - I go right up to the line with how I present myself. I say (rather awkwardly) that I am someone who might have, maybe, experienced some sort of contact event in my life, but it might be on some dream-like or ethereal level that is hard to explain. Maybe, sorta, kinda.

I'll periodically say to my self, SCREW IT! I should just declare what I suspect is true! But (as I said above) it just wouldn't feel honest without some direct memory.

Now, that said, I have been told by psychics (more than one) that I came to the earth plane after consciously choosing NOT to remember these experiences. For some reason, there is a purpose to this NOT knowing. As strange as that sounds, this seems to "feel" like a truism.

I think my personal level of acceptance or denial can waver on a sort of continuum, depending on how the wind blows.

How's that for a wishy-washy reply?

I don't think that's wishy washy at all. I think it shows that your bumping into a dynamic, complex unknown set of experiences and doing your honest best to apprise them.

I don't mean to sound as if I've "graduated" beyond these experiences to some level of proficient, fearless interaction...I simply have not. This is a very clear and heartfelt bit of first-person testimony. I was particularly impressed when she described the occupant of the craft, her description matches what i have heard personally and read in the literature. My impression is that this woman is sharing a very real memory.

I don't have much information about this compelling clip. All I know is that it's an excerpt from a BBC documentary from 1977. For me, there is something captivating about 16mm footage shot in one long take on a cloudy day. Beautiful.

KUBRICK, FOWLER and THE WATCHERS

The drama of evolution is played out in the book of Genesis, as well as in Kubrick’s 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. And the drama of synchronicity is played out seemingly everywhere, and things can end up getting intertwined in mysterious ways.

The Dawn of Man

Kubrick’s film begins with the Dawn of Man, where proto-humans encounter a mysterious alien force that spawns an evolutionary leap. The middle part of the film involves modern man who re-encounters this same mysterious force.

Fetus / Star child / gray alien

All this reaches a climax with an apotheosis where a human fetus is the culmination of our next evolutionary change. We see three distinct evolutionary stages.

These three stages show up elsewhere too, they are in the UFO abduction literature.

Below is an excerpt from Raymond Fowler's 1991 book, The Watchers:

Fowler goes on to point out that the human fetus can look eerily like a prototypical gray alien. Big head, big prominent eyes and a spindly body. (Ray isn't the only one to notice this!)

Strangely, the fetus of a chimpanzee looks very human. The Chimpanzee is our closest genetic cousin, our genetics are so similar (about 95% the same) that one has to ask, why aren’t we chimpanzees? Perhaps we are, at least we are their fetuses.

In his book The Watchers, Raymond Fowler speculates about this odd likeness in the fetuses in us and in chimpanzees, and an interpretation of this curious procession. I’ve included a series of pages from this book (linked HERE and below), and this should be required reading to anyone who wants to dig a little bit deeper into this stuff.

Are modern humans some sort of genetic alteration using a chimpanzee fetus? If we go one step further, are the gray aliens a genetic alteration using the human fetus?

Chimpanzees are born with smaller heads than us humans, and they don’t experience the same sort of pain we do during the birth process. It’s our large heads (and larger brains) that separate us from the chimpanzee.

Does the bible give us a clue to this species tinkering?

In fact it does, when God kicks Adam and Eve out of The Garden, he bestowed only two punishments, we would feel shame (and we would then want clothes) and from this point on we would experience painful child birth.

Were Adam and Eve happy Chimpanzees living lives of bliss in The Garden? And who was this “God” that changed us? Were we genetically altered so that now we're burdened with bigger heads?

a prototypical gray alien

The gray alien seems incapable of child bearing in the way we presently understand. Their huge heads and their tiny hips would make this all but impossible unless they're up to something unfamiliar, like employing some sort of artificial womb. This is something that is alarmingly common in UFO abduction reports; we hear repeating stories of tanks filled with fetuses and some sort of liquid, and often we hear about rooms filled with lots of these tanks. What is happening? Is there really some sort of breeding program where humans are getting up-graded?

Following this line of speculation, we must scrutinize these three distinct phases of evolution: Chimpanzees, modern humans and the gray alien. The narrative of 2001 mimics the conjecture that Raymond Fowler puts forth in The Watchers.

When Betty Andeasson Luca asked her little gray abductors who they were, they replied, The Watchers.

Both Betty Andeasson Luca and Ray Fowler are devout Christians, so I feel it’s appropriate to quote the Bible again.

This sounds suspiciously like the opening lines from a modern day UFO abduction report.

Adding to the overall strangeness, the author and researcher Raymond Fowler came out as an alien abductee himself. He shared his own direct experiences in a 2002 book titled UFO Testament: Anatomy of an Abductee. While this might seem like a bizarre claim coming from a respected UFO researcher, it is instead very common. I have come to the point where I suspect that most researchers in this field have had some sort of contact experience, either remembered or suppressed.

His most recent book is about being plagued by synchronicities and their odd intertwining with the UFO phenomenon (a subject near and dear to my heart), this 2004 book is titled SYNCHROFILE.

JACK KIRBY and THE WATCHER

The Book of Enoch uses The Watchers as a way to describe the fallen angels. But they show up in comic books too.

God-like alien with a big bald head on the moon

Jack Kirby and Stan Lee created a character called The Watcher to describe a race of God-like aliens, and he is drawn with a huge bald head and vague facial features. He looks suspiciously like a fetus, or the prototypical gray alien.

Genetically enhanced super-apes traveling in space while trapped in weird glowing orbs. Does this seems familiar?

The mystical Watcher named Uatu reveals himself to the Fantastic Four and makes them battle the Red Ghost (an evil Russian) and his Super-apes for control of the Moon. Again, this mimics some of the narrative elements in Kubrick’s 2001.

Christopher Knowles has written extensively at THE SECRET SUN about how Jack Kirby was tapping into something profoundly mysterious. (and more HERE)

THE SIXTH FINGER

This story of The Watcher hit the comic book racks in April of 1963. The same year as The Outer Limits episode THE SIXTH FINGER. This story is also obsessed with the dilemma of human evolution. We again see the three distinct evolutionary stages starting with apes, moving to modern man and culminating with a mystical being with an over-sized bald head.

Again, Christopher Knowles has written extensively on the mythic power of The Outer Limits, and it's overtly prophetic plot points describing the alien abduction lore.

THE SIXTH FINGER - the complete episode from 1963

In this mythic Outer Limits episode, young Gwyllm Griffiths, played by David McCallum, jumps at the chance to be the first human subject to step into a secret machine, anything to escape the drudgery of life in a Welsh mining town. The experiment succeeds and Gwyllm is “evolved” into the future. He emerges from a chamber with a much larger head and a sixth finger on each hand. He has progress to a human future of Godlike powers.

God-like, alien-like, big-headed and bald.

THE SIXTH FINGER resonates the the same ape/human/God triad as 2001.

PLANET OF THE APES

2001 isn’t the only movie from 1968 with apes and astronauts. Another masterpiece of cinema premiered that same year, PLANET OF THE APES.

Taylor emerges from the sea

Charlton Heston plays astronaut Taylor, a parallel to Keir Dullea’s astronaut from 2001, Dr. David Bowman. Both transcend time and arrive at a mysterious place. The script was written by Rod Serling, no stranger to the mythic and metaphoric.

This movie is steeped in secrets about the evolution of apes and humans. Dr. Zaius (Zeus?) is the rule-maker in this world, and he is also the caretaker of the hidden knowledge about the evolutionary history of his planet. He plays the role of Heywood Floyd from 2001, both are the keeper of secrets and at the heart of a grand cover-up.

Taylor lies in his glass chamber, arms crossed like an entombed Pharaoh.

Proof that a inverted evolution took place, in three distinct layers.

We see three distinct evolutionary phases in PLANET OF THE APES, they are most clearly seen in the archeological dig inside a cave. There are three distinct layers, with our present day modern man at the lowest level. This film is upside down compared to 2001.

When Taylor meets with Dr. Zaius in his chambers he asks, “How in Hell did this upside-down civilization get started?”

Zaius replies, “You may call it upside-down, because you occupy it’s lowest level!”

PLANET OF THE APES begins with space travel through a psychedelic star gate, and 2001 ends with a similar transition. The narrative path is upside-down compared to it's sister movie.

Dr. Zaius and the cursed doll.

At the lowest level in the dig site, Cornelius (Roddy McDowell) has un-earthed an ancient human baby doll. This doll resonates the big headed alien/fetus meme. This doll is the key to unraveling the cover-up held in place by Dr. Zaius.

At one point the chimpanzee scientist Zera (Kim Hunter) shouts at Dr. Zaius, “The proof, the doll!”

The film culminates with Taylor riding off to find “his destiny,” to quote Dr. Zaius. This transformative destiny involves meeting Isis in the form of the Statue of Liberty.

GABRIELLE GIFFORDS

Now here is where things get really weird.

When Jared Lee Loughner shot Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, one of the first Doctors arrive on the scene was DR. DAVE BOWMAN. He attended a wounded 9-year old girl who just happened to be born on September 11th, 2001. She died that day, and her name was Christina-TAYLOR Greene.

Charlton Heston was an astronaut named TAYLOR in PLANET OF THE APES, and Keir Dullea portrays astronaut DR. DAVE BOWMAN, who returns to earth at the end of 2001 as the fetus like star child. To make things even stranger, Gabrielle Giffords is married to an astronaut.

SYNCHRO-ODDITIES

I have been trying to make synchro-connections with two movies, a TV show, a comic book, a UFO abduction account and a political assassination attempt. In doing so, it seems like attempting to rein this stuff in with any kind of linear logic is useless. So I’m just gunna list some odd interrelations (in no particular order) with bulleted points.

~ PLANET OF THE APES premiered on April 3rd, 1968. And 2001: A SPACE ODDESY premiered just 3 days later on April 6th, 1968.

~ PLANET OF THE APES begins with a psychedelic star gate/worm hole sequence, and 2001 ends with something very similar.

~ Lake Powell in Utah (Uatu?) is featured in both PLANET OF THE APES and 2001. In each of these movies it appears as the culmination of the trippy star gate voyage through space.

~ Lake Powell was used as a location in 1965 passion play, THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD. Charlton Heston plays John the Baptist and baptizes Jesus in these same waters. Roddy McDowell plays Mathew and David McCallum plays Judas Iscariot!

Charlton Heston is back in Lake Powell, wearing firs instead of a space suit.

~ 2001, PLANET OF THE APES and The Watchers are each, at their heart, Ancient Astronaut stories (and on some level, so is THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD).

~ Charlton Heston also played Moses, where he brings down tablets from God to usher in a new-age. A tablet-like monolith appears in 2001 (from God?), again to usher in a new-age.

~ In 1995 there was an odd bit of black & white 16mm footage suposedly showing an ALIEN AUTOPSY, it proports to be a being that was found in the Roswell crash. The film is easily dismissed as a hoax, but the entity shown has an oversized bald head and six fingers.

~ Roddy McDowell emerges from a Welsh mining town in John Ford’s HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY, and he eventually plays the role of Cornelius (a chimpanzee) in 1968. David McCallum emerges from the very same Welsh mining town in THE SIXTH FINGER, the film-makers re-use stock footage from the 1941 film.

~ Young British actress Jill Hayworth plays the beautiful love interest in THE SIXTH FINGER in 1963, and in 1967 she plays opposite Roddy McDowell in a Hammer wanna-be horror film titled IT!

~ Also in 1967, McDowell guest stars in the TV series THE INVADERS as an astrophysicist who has proof that aliens are invading the planet.

~ Roddy McDowell read the audio-book for Whitley Strieber’s 1987 best-seller Communion. Let me add that listening to this reading of Strieber’s first person narrative is absolutely wonderful. In essence, Roddy McDowell is playing the role of Whitley Strieber!

Charlton Heston and Kim Hunter re-enact the first steps of a hybridization process

~ Kim Hunter (Zera in PLANET OF THE APES) also played the role of an alien abductee in an episode of The CBS Radio Mystery Theater. The set of plot points closely matches many of the elements of the typical UFO abduction account (including mind control, telepathy and implants). The original air-date was November 25, 1974, well before the proliferation in the media of abduction accounts.

Archangel Gabriel and The Blessed Virgin Mary

~ It is the Archangel Gabriel that appears to Mary. He tells her: “And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb...” (Luke 1:31) This immaculate conception story sounds curiously similar to some of the accounts shared by women who claim alien abduction experiences; these accounts are full of mysterious pregnancies. Often when the woman is NOT sexually active. This certainly parrallels the virgin Mary.

~ The name Gabriel certainly parallels Gabrielle. Also, some New Age exponents portray Archangel Gabriel as female.

~ There was another Gabriel involved in the shooting in Tucson. Gabriel "Gabe" Zimmerman, age 30, was a member of Congresswoman Giffords' staff and was killed that afternoon.

~ The name Gabrielle Giffords resonates Gwyllm Griffiths. Gwyllm is the evolutionarily transformed bald being in THE SIXTH FINGER.

~ Gabrielle Giffords miraculously survives being shot in the head, and ends up bald, like her astronaut husband.

~ Giffords' astronaut husband (Mark Kelly) has an identical twin brother (Scott Kelly), who is also an astronaut! Scott Kelly was a pilot for space shuttle Discovery, and that's the name of Dr. Dave Bowman's spaceship. Scott Kelly was in space during the shooting, and offered a moment of silence on 1-11-11. Issue dated Feb. 21, 1964

~ The twin astronauts were born on Feb. 21st 1964. Here is the LIFE magazine cover from that very day showing Lee Harvey Oswald. Many researchers of the JFK assassination claim that this photo is faked. Also, Oswald had a double (or twin) impersonating him in 1964 and LIFE magazine had well established ties to the CIA. Oswald shares the name LEE with Jared LEE Lougner.

~ I have to assume that the NASA astronaut corps are briefed about the reality of the UFO phenomenon. It sure seems like they would be trained in advance that they might see something odd out there. The picture that gets painted is that these folks are privy to some seriously insider info about UFOs.

CRYOGENIC TUBES

~ PLANET OF THE APES and 2001 both feature cryogenic suspended animation chambers, and these are seen as death chambers in both movies. Glass chambers are also pivotal to THE SIXTH FINGER and to Ray Fowler’s The Watchers.

~ THE SIXTH FINGER starts with an ape who has made an evolutionary leap (using a glass chamber) and ends with a modern human making a further evolutionary leap and emerging as a proto-God with an oversized bald head.

~ The imagery of the suspended animation glass sarcophagus shows up a lot in the UFO abduction lore. (see the drawing by an abductee above) Some researchers conclude that there is an ongoing genetic project to create geneticly enhanced alien/human hybrids using advanced technologies.

~ An abductee tells of seeing this clone nursery (see above illustration) and it depicts alien/human hybrid fetuses floating in glass tubes. The color of the fluid in these tubes is consistantly reported as blue. When Taylor enters his glass chamber in the first minutes of PLANET OF THE APES, the image fades to blue and then there is a star-gate sequence.

~ The illustration below was drawn by Betty Andeasson Luca and it depicts a series of glass tubes, and they show their own evolutionary scheme. Even Jesus is included!

~ In the pulp science fiction illustrations and magazine covers of a bygone era, the image of the glass tube is a repeating image, albeit for a tawdry psycho-sexual obsession. Lot of images HERE. This rather comical pattern was noted by the late great Mac Tonnies.

THE ECHO CHAMBER

Why do these resonant parallels emerge out of the ether? Is reality a sort of echo chamber where ideas and memes bounce off each-other in a way that forces them to emerge in a weird synchronistic manner?

I suspect strongly that there is something more to the horrendous tragedy surrounding Gabrielle Giffords. Why are there such strange reverberating plot elements to this story? It forces me to think that there simply must be a reason behind it all. What that might be, I have no idea. I am left to wonder if powerful human events simply create their own synchronous magic?

All that said, my only rule for deciphering synchronicities is to pay attention.

It happened three times, the number 1234 popped up in curious ways, all dealing with the post (above) THE EVOLUTIONARY TRIAD.

Lesley Gunther posted a link to this long-winded post on her site, The Debris Field. The time stamp is 12:34 AM.

And earlier in the afternoon today, it happened again. I wanted to test cutting and pasting some HTML code, so I used another bog of mine. I posted the same content of the same post, and the time-stamp read 12:34 PM.

And - As I was putting together THIS post, I found another one! The PDF of the WATCHERS excerpt is time-stamped 12:34 too! Thus, a TRIAD of 1234 syncs!

Not sure what to think, but it feels like these subtle little synchronicities are reminding me to pay attention. This was helpful because that post is so nutty that I was questioning my own sanity. And, these are all actual screen grabs!

UFOs and 1234

More weirdness with UFOs and the number 1234 involving one of my heroes, Larry Warren. Just a few minutes ago Larry added me to his list of friends on facebook. He plays a central role in the Bentwaters case from 1980, perhaps the single most well documented UFO case in history. He also wrote the book LEFT AT EAST GATE, along with Peter Robbins, about the Rendalsham Forest incident.

I was noted as his latest friend, and now his list totals 1234. For folks who haven't dug thru this blog, I've had a LOT of synchronicities with the number 1234.

Also, I was surpised to see his birthday, and he's two days shy of being a year older than me. (see THIS!)

I have been pondering whether I should also post my audio podcasts on YouTube. I know full well that doing this would dramatically increase the number of listeners. odd events are tailored in DEEPLY personal ways

In a recent LUMINOSITY post, Dan Mitchell wrote:

"Let me state first and foremost that I have as of yet heard of no others that have described this experience on the terms that I have.”

I feel strongly that this could be said of almost anyone on this kind of path. There is a complexity and depth to Dan’s experiences that seem to match something within him. It seems that the phenomenon is meeting him in terms that he can relate to on a profound level.

When I speak to people about their direct contact experiences I always ask them about this, about how these odd events are tailored in a way that is DEEPLY personal. These folks are quick to agree, they sense these experiences are a sort of theater directed at them and their individual needs. This isn’t a universal reply, but it feels like a majority.

This get very complicated when trying to make sense of the people with dark and horrifying experiences. I can't help but feel a very real concern when I hear these grueling stories.

I also feel that the "new-age true-believers" are being honest when they say they tell of meeting angelic space brothers who hail from the Pleiades. I suspect that is EXACTLY the imagery and narrative that they're being presented with, and it seems to meet their needs.

When I ponder my own set of experiences in this framework, I see a sort of methodical odyssey. I have been given just the bare minimum of clues. This has forced me into the role of the detective, albeit and obsessive and introspective one. Strangely, this very much seems to meet my own unique needs on some deep personal level.

ALSO:
I used the term “new-age true-believers” in the text above, and it might come across as dismissive. I recognize that plenty of folks in this UFO research community are quick to deride this faction who claim direct contact. This sub-group is very much a part of this overall phenomenon, and it does a disservice to ignore them (or reject them with contempt, which I see a lot). To be honest, I struggle with certain claims within this rather large clique. But they bring very real clues to the table that are every bit as valid as the credentialed nuts and bolts researcher.

deer on my porch

A year ago, Thanksgiving night of 2010, while driving back home to my house I nearly hit a deer on with my car.

I was invited to a Thanksgiving dinner by an acquaintance by the name of Erika. She and I have had wonderful conversations together, and I liked her tremendously. I was delighted that she had asked me and I gotta say, it felt a little bit like a date. But sadly, this time of year can be hard for me. I suffer from clinical depression (and I’ve been open about it on this blog) and the short days have an impact on my mood. I was on my way to the party, but I wasn’t feeling so great. I actually drove past the house, and it just wasn’t in me to go it, so I drove back to the main street and headed home.

It was on the main highway just as I was picking up speed after leaving the downtown area that the deer darted out from some cottonwoods and appeared in my headlights. The road was icy and the deer skittered and fell in front of my car. I swerved and for a moment everything was in slow motion, it was close but the frightened animal was fine.

I have lived in this town for over 17 years and I’ve never seen deer at this spot in the road. But, I have seen owls in that exact spot three different times.

About a month and a half later I went to the nearby town of Jackson to see the remake of TRUE GRIT with Erika. This time it was actually a real-deal date. This would have been early January 2011 sometime.

As we drove home after the movie, while we were still in the town of Jackson, Erika suddenly shouts, “Deer!” and before I could react there was a sickening thud, and I watched as a small deer bounced off the passenger side of the hood, and spun into the lane to our left. From what I saw in the headlight, it was then hit by a truck next to us.

At that moment we were in traffic on slick roads, there was really nothing I could do but continue driving. I had a jolt of adrenaline, and we tried to make sense of what just happened. I was probably going about 30 miles per hour, and so was the truck next to us. So, there was a chance that the deer would live. This is a notorious stretch of road, and deer are hit by cars often.

During the drive home, Erika and I both talked about how sad it made us thinking that we might have killed that animal. One thing I wanted to share with Erika during our time in the car was a series of stories involving me seeing badgers (I may write about that someday), and how they seemed to be directly related to her. These curious stories feel mysterious in a way that I was worried that in telling them I might sound nutty. I chose not to share those stories after hitting that deer.

Two days later I saw small deer tracks on the porch outside my kitchen door. I am not sure when they appeared but there was fresh snow so I can only guess it happened about 48 hours after hitting the deer in Jackson Hole.

Once again, I have lived in this house for over 17 years and I have NEVER once seen a deer (or deer tracks) anywhere near the house, let alone within 18 inches of my kitchen door.

In less than two months I almost hit a deer, I most likely kill a deer and a deer walks on my porch. Two of these events involved Erika, and I’m happy to report we have been close and happy since last winter. It has been perfectly magical.

This story may mean nothing but I've made a sort of declaration to myself that I document these curious events in this public format.

low quality podcasting

I'm gunna rant.

Lameness abounds, and I gotta voice my disappointed with the vast majority of podcasting on the paranormal lore. Good grief, some of it just sounds awful! Most of the shows on BlogTalk, Inception Radio and UFO Paranormal Network are almost impossible to try and play the role of listener, the audio quality is inexcusably bad. There are guests I wanna listen to, but I'm appalled by the crummy sound. I've been doing an on-line radio show using my humble desktop computer, and my audio quality is pretty good. We live in an era of amazing and inexpensive technology that should make all of these shows crystal clear. It's not that hard people.

a terrifying dream that changed to full consciousness

On the night of August 15th I experienced some sort of extremely vivid dream that had a profound impact on me.

I was sleeping at a friends house, and the beginning of the experience was rather dreamlike, although it felt entirely real. I was in the exact location of where I was dreaming, and this was decidedly unusual, it just doesn’t happen to me very often, and when it does there seems to be something paranormal at play. I remember at one point I left the bed I was lying in, went down the stairs and out into the driveway to look at the nighttime sky. There was a sense of waiting, or expectation.

In this part of the dream I seem to remember doing mundane things, like turning the lights on as I moved through the apartment. I came back inside and I remember walking in a hallway that matched the house I grew up in, and this brief moment felt decidedly like a dream.

Shortly after that I returned to the bed.

Then I seemed to have woken up with a jolt, but I strongly suspect that I was still in this dream-state. I looked up and saw five beings (I think it was five) standing around the bed. The bed is just a mattress on the floor, and I was looking up at these beings, and my guess is they were about four feet tall. They were just misty white apparitions, like they were made out of glowing fog. They were just a sort of human shaped outline, and they seemed to be standing motionless.

The image of multiple beings around the bed were vague, and it’s hard for me to remember much. But it matched the interior of the bedroom exactly.

I sat up in bed and put my arm out to touch one of these beings, and my hand passed right through them, but I felt an odd sensation of fuzziness, or a sort of spider web feeling. I was intrigued by this sensation.

I remember feeling absolutely no fear at all as I reached out to them. I felt oddly curious.

But, something else happened, and it seems like it took place a short time after sitting up. It was like an odd flip-flop in the otherwise calm narrative of this dream. What I experienced was unimaginably terrifying.

I was suddenly experiencing a frenetic slide-show of freakish images, it was taking place in my heightened dream-state. The images were like something out of a gruesome set of heavy metal album covers, each image was like a finished piece of surreal artwork. They were bloody and perverse. These highly stylized snapshots looked like a H.R. Giger nightmare. Each hideous image would last less than a second, and then the next would appear, and the next, and the next.

Initially I was bombarded by these dark visuals while in this dream-state, but the intensity of what was happening seemed to jar me awake, and then I was staring blankly at the bedroom wall. The room was lit with the soft glow of early morning. At this point I was most definitely awake but the slide-show kept going.

These horrific images continued to flash before my eyes, they were literally in a rectangular frame, as if projected in berserkly high resolution on a sort of screen floating directly in line with my sight.

This crazy slide-show of images was something I have never experienced before. Quite honestly, I thought I had gone insane and this was terrifying.

I lay there, with my eyes open and my heart pounding, experiencing a kind of panic attack, but I don’t know how long this fully conscious part lasted. Maybe less than a 30 seconds. But it was enough to scare the shit out of me, the feeling of absolute madness was overwhelming.

Eventually, it faded away, and I was left shaken and drained. When I did get up, I was functioning poorly, and the rest of the day was effected.

Two days later I emailed Anya Briggs in New York, and tried to explain what happened. Anya is a powerful psychic and a friend, I trust her insights. (her blog linked HERE)

The burning question I for Anya was this: Did I get abducted the other night?

She was quick to respond and she reassured me that I did NOT get abducted (and that’s what I felt too) but that some sort of interaction had happened.

Below is an edited excerpt of a recorded call between myself and Anya a few days later. She did something that seems to happen a lot when we talk together, she slipped into channel mode, and she began to communicate with her guides.

Anya: You are piercing the veil between one reality and the next, they are inter-dimensional beings, they are from somewhere else, they’re not of this world physically and it was real. You weren’t dreaming.

They’ve done this to me. They’ll do something to your head to make you feel like you’re dreaming. That was technology that was used on you. Fear is an acronym for False Expectations And Reality.

This was an initiation and you failed (she laughed), the frequency was so high it frightened you.

Mike: It felt like all of a sudden my mind had been overridden, and I was thrust into this rapid fire slide-show, the images were terrible, gruesome, like H.P. Lovecraft, bloody, monsters - and I had no control over it.

I had lost the ability to control my mind. The sensation of losing my mind was very real, and that really freaked me out, that sensation of insanity.

Anya: Maybe you were temporarily hijacked?

Mike: It sure felt like it!

Anya: You must understand that this is an initiation for a certain type of species to reach out to you, to understand the fear construct better.

And what they were doing, believe it or not, it may have seemed like torture or punishment or something that was thrust upon you against your will, but you had asked for this, Dear One, they’re saying.

It was an outreach program that failed. Their methodology was not working so they’re going to try a different tactic again at some point, to try and understand the fear input without freaking you out. Please understand this was not done with malicious intent. It was not meant to frighten you, but it had the opposite effect. They didn’t understand this.

They wanted to see what you understood as far as the fear construct, and your reaction. The interpretation of events did not go well, and we apologize for that.

Note: August 15th is the date that Anya Briggs calls her awakening. I have another friend with profound psychic experiences, Susan MacLeod, who also says that August 15th was her awakening. These happened in different years.

Also: I was going to draw an image of the glowing beings around the bed, but this post is so dark, I don't really feel all that inspired. Maybe someday.

intellect vs intuition

I just received a letter from a reader (and listener) to this blog. He says what I'm feeling with an intense clarity. The one question I repeatedly ask to my guests, and especially to myself, is: HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR INTELLECT AND YOUR INTUITION?

Alas, I find myself increasingly bored and dismissive of my intellect.

My friend writes:

I really think that whatever the hell this phenomenon/phenomena may be, it defies the reductionist approach favored by traditional objectivism. It requires us to get back to basic shit and just talk with each other, person-to-person, like you seem to do with your guests. I'm not saying we throw out rational inquiry, not at all! In fact I strongly believe that many people would benefit from taking a cold, hard look at their own gullibility. And I mean that with all my heart. But we also need to be open to the emotive, mysterious, symbolic and intuitive signals that are coming through to us as well.

I don't know what all this means. Maybe that is my Westernized left brain talking. It sits there in judgement, telling me that I'm full of crap for even paying attention to these anomalies in my life. And sometimes I don't know if I should believe its rational admonitions, fall into lock-step with culture, and simply dismiss all of this as some collective fantasy of early 21st-Century apocalyptic dreams.

On the other hand, maybe I really should pay attention to the absurdities. Last night I was sitting in bed with my heavy comforter drawn up around me, lights out and balancing my laptop between my knees and chest. Because I wasn't sleepy, I started to play a simple puzzle game that I had recently downloaded. I turned off the TV just after the Letterman monologue. It was about 11 pm.

A few minutes later I glanced at the computer's clock in the lower right corner. It said 2:20 am. My comforter was on the floor and I couldn't quite figure out how it got there. I was chilled and a bit confused. I seemed to be in the same position I started out in, and not a bit stiff, if indeed I had been sitting there motionless for three-plus hours.

My left brain was curiously incurious, despite my confusion. I simply gathered the comforter back onto the bed, closed down the computer and went to sleep. In retrospect I wonder what to make of it.

Sure, I can resort to the explanation that A) I dozed off and didn't realize it, or B) that I got so wrapped up in this little video game that I didn't notice that over three hours of time had passed. There are problems with either explanation though, so the only recourse to my left brain was to flatly dismiss this little incident as nothing unusual.

But dammit, it was unusual! So what to make of it? The rational side is not paying attention But the intuitive side is saying that there is more to the story. So what do I do? It is this little mental battle that, I think, causes so many of us to discount the oddities in life. For me, it's easier to give in to the dismissive voice. But, I fear, that will never lead me to any sort of true understanding about the edges of reality.

Anyhow, I just want to reiterate that you, Mike, need to continue to explore and share these "Outer Limits" experiences. Keep up with the healthy skepticism, for that produces a clarity sadly lacking in the "Love and Light" community of doe-eyed believers. Critically examine the circumstances of every experience. But, on the other hand, don't let that skepticism discount the strange. That's just lazy thinking.

At one point in my life I had dedicated myself to rock climbing, this happened while living in New York City. This little story took place in the summer of 1993, and at the time I was 31 (I am 49 as I write this).

I had a secret spot that I liked to sleep out under the stars on top of a dramatic cliff system known as the Shawangunks. This was just a few miles outside of the town of New Paltz, (noted on the map with a RED marker) this is about 90 miles north of New York City. It was near the “hair-pin-turn” if you are at all familiar with the area. I would sneak into the woods and camp alone on the Mohonk Preserve, a protected private park. This is a perfectly lovely spot with a delightful wilderness feel.

The spot where I slept was out on a big expanse of lumpy white rock, this is the same rock formation that makes up the cliff system where all the climbing takes place. The rock itself is a hard, silica-cemented conglomerate of white quartz pebbles and sandstone. My sleeping spot was simply a shallow flat spot, exactly the size of my sleeping pad, and it was absolutely beautiful.

One night (I am quite certain it was a Friday) at about 11:30, I was in my little apartment in Greenwich Village. At that late hour, I was sort of “compelled” to get in my car and drive north to my little secret spot. It was an easy drive that late at night with minimal traffic. As I was on the FDR, I remember thinking to myself, “Wow, they're pushin’ pretty hard tonight.”

I got to the spot around 1:AM, and I took my sleeping bag and pad into the woods and went to sleep. I have no unusual memories at all. The next morning, I met with some of the local climbers and enjoyed a day of rock climbing.

Now, this “event” can easily be dismissed as just me wanting to get out of the crowded city and get an early start the next morning, I recognize that. Or, just me wanting to sleep outside under the stars in a pretty place; this is something I still do a lot in the summer.

All that said, I’m still confused about that little voice in my head that just kind of blurted out: “Wow, they're pushin’ pretty hard tonight.”

I had read Whitley Strieber’s COMMUNION a few years earlier, and he gave some details about his cabin, and I realized it was rather close to my secret spot, maybe just a few miles away. I only thought about this years later when UNKNOWN COUNTRY noted that Whitley’s cabin was quite close to those cliffs. When I read that, I had a sinking feeling. But why?

I have pin-pointed my secret sleeping spot exactly on a map (noted on the map with a YELLOW marker). I later learned that Whitley’s cabin was near the little town of Accord (noted on the map with a BLUE marker). The town is less than four miles from my sleeping spot. I don’t know the exact location of the cabin, but it could be as close as two miles from my sleeping spot.

I’ll add that some years later, I went up to that spot, not to sleep, it was the middle of the day and I was visiting New Paltz. I was curious if I could even find it on the big open expanse of white rock.

I walked straight to it, and on this one lone spot, someone had spray painted a pentagram in a circle. (it may have been an “A” in a circle, I can’t remember exactly). This bit of creepy graffiti was right exactly where I slept! Nothing else was noted anywhere on the huge area. Weird!

That’s it, overall it’s nothing all that eventful, but upon reflection some of the details sure feel weird to me.

There is one story I haven't posted on this blog, until now. It deals with some personal details and to tell it correctly it needed to be a long essay. I've posted it (below) in a PDF reader. The story involves an experience Budd Hopkins calls confirmation anxiety. There may be no clear answer in this essay, but it does tell of my emotions and explorations during a confusing chapter of my life.

Now my point here is just to relate an interesting experience, nothing more.

Some of Mac Tonnies’ best friends and people who continue to be influenced by him got together on RADIO MYSTERIOSO on October 23rd to reminisce about his life, personality and work. Mac died in his sleep two years ago on the night of October 18th. He was a reluctant iconoclast and advanced thinker and theorist. He was respected as a fortean and transhumanist. He was also a friend.

The focus of our conversation was mind control and how it seems to overlap with divergent topics. We went into the deep waters, and looked at UFOs, alternate realms, time travel, 2012, occult rituals, Dr. Steven Greer and Luciferian agendas. Somehow, these concepts are interwoven int the claims of the people who report trauma based mind-control.

Fred is quite the fascinating fellow, he was a an insider at the state department and worked as a translator for the department of state speaking Indonesian. He spent time in high level meetings translating for Bill Clinton, George Bush Jr., Condolisa Rice and Dick Cheney. He left his job after going public with some of the dirty deeds of the Bush administration after 9/11.

The Layered Language of Crop Circles

Lines on a map, and an attempt to define deep mysteries.

Crop circles, UFOs, and synchronicities are clues to our connection with a largely-unseen web of reality. Interactions with these phenomena show us that we aren’t isolated packets of consciousness; rather, we are transmitters and receivers of meaning through language.

We find that where these extraordinary phenomena occur in conjunction with one another and are then plotted on a map, a brilliant and always-evolving syntax emerges. As we wish, we are given to explore a language that has nothing to do with the describing the mundane and everything to do with navigating the fringes of reality.

The author, Stace Tussel Colligan, is a comrade of mine.

We've repeatedly tossed ideas back and forth between each other and she's helped me widen my view of reality. She posted a video on a a very curious crop circle synchronicity, and that was the genesis of my very strange set of map posts from March of last year.

Those posts (and my use of google-maps) played a role in her recent post on her blog, Inter-Intelligence-Communications. She's come up with some very odd synchronistic lines concerning her North American crop circle research.

This post is absolutely fascinating, but I don't know what it means, all I know for sure is that I am going to pay very close attention.

One thing I do notice is that one line passes through the Pryor Mountains in Montana. I have just barely hinted at this location as important in my own blog, but this location has been a sort of synchro-beacon as I proceed down this path.

The dark area is The Pryor Mountains, the home of the "little people" in the lore of the Crow Nation.

rectangular UFO and odd memory problems

Reference drawn by the witness of a 40 to 60-yard-long, rectangular-shaped object floating silently less than 600 feet off the ground.

There was an extremely curious UFO sighting on Oct 16th in Oregon. The witness and his daughter both claim "strange memory" problems after watching an oddly shaped rectangle object while driving in their car. The report is fascinating, linked HERE.

I am struck by it's similarity to a recent post on UFO's shaped like buildings (see below), linked HERE.

Ooooh, so close!

I am editing the audio for an interview I just did with researcher Fred Burks. We are focused mostly on mind control, but our conversation roams to other topics as well. During the editing I had an issue that I couldn't solve, so I called apple support, I spent some time on hold and when the service person came on the phone I paused the audio.

Now, anyone who's followed this blog knows that the number 123 shows up in my life in odd ways, but I am WAY more intrigued when it's the number 12345.

So, the paused time count read 01:23:44.984, and that is ridiculously close to being a very tidy 12345. Below is the audio text, with the time count noted:

FRED: What many of these people are being lead to believe is there is going to be some great harvest on 2012.

(1:23:44:984)

MIKE: Yep, I've heard that too...

FRED: Where all the good people are going to be taken off to another dimension ad all the bad people are going to be sent off to live of another cycle of incarnation to learn that it's about love, and I don't buy into that.

So, the number (or the almost number) 12345 coincides exactly with the spoken word: "2012" - whatever that means. Chris Knowles says to keep a synchronicity log, and I've taken his advice to heart, and I'm documenting 'em right here in this blog.

Radio Mystery Theater predicts UFO abductions

During my youth I was absolutely fascinated with the nightly show, The CBS Radio Mystery Theater. It was on AM radio at 11:07 each weeknight, and I would lie in bed and listen to the drama on my clock radio. There were stories of the paranormal, ghosts and monsters. The show was hosted by E.G. Marshall, who had a hauntingly beautiful voice.

This story is a fictional re-telling of a series of UFO abductions. The original air-date was November 25, 1974, well before the proliferation in the media of abduction accounts. The set of plot points closely matches many of the elements of the typical UFO abduction account (including mind control, telepathy and implants) and I find this fascinating.

I had a missing time event in the fall of 1974, (I don't know the exact date) and this story was first aired shortly after that experience, potentially only a few weeks later.

I am going to editorialize on the state of UFO information and it's visual tone. I need to express my deepest abhorrence to the imagery used to promote videos like this one here, and the one in the post below. I loath the sensationalistic portrayal on DVD boxes, book covers and video title graphics. These slapped together photoshop constructions make my heart sink. I feel a deep "mission" of sorts to try to get this very real subject to be taken seriously, and shabby visuals like these are a pathetic step backwards.

This busy title graphic doesn't reflect the sparse and level-headed tone of the film-making.

UFOs: The Secret History is a very serious documentary created for Canadian television. It is shot almost entirely with just a stationary camera and people speaking about the issues surrounding the phenomenon. This is entirely engaging, and a welcome relief compare to the frenetic pace of cable TV documentaries designed for zero attention span.

Budd Hopkins shares his insight from his time researching the phenomenon.

What is most impressive is that there is over 2 hours and 23 minutes of bonus interviews as part of the DVD package, and that's what I've included above. This extra footage features a series of interviews focused entirely on the UFO abduction phenomenon. The video features Budd Hopkins, David Jacobs, Jerome Clark, Dr. Janet Elizabeth Colli, Travis Walton, mythologists, psychologists, and a series of abductees sharing their personal experiences.

I haven't watched the documentary in it's entirety, nor have I watched all of the bonus interviews. But I feel I've seen enough to recommend this long set of conversations. I deeply respect the filmmaker, David Cherniack, for treating the viewer as an grown-up.

DMT and the realms beyond our human experience

lucid dream with John Keel

Last night I had a wonderfully pleasant dream where I was at a UFO conference, and I was delighted to meet none other than John Keel. I was eager to talk with him, and we left the big hall and walked outside together, he was engaging and smiling. We walked in a bleak desert environment with parking lots and an old gas station.

Now, I knew perfectly well that this was a dream, and I knew Mr. Keel had died, but I was very aware that I might be interacting with his spirit in this vivid dream realm. It seemed entirely possible that this dream realm might be overlapping with the spirit realm.

I asked how he was doing, and he smiled and said: “Oh fine, just fine.”

And then I nervously asked, “Well, from where you are, and what you know, how am I doing, I mean with this ongoing research stuff?”

I can’t remember how he answered. I do know he smiled and was genuinely positive (he looked and acted exactly as in the video above). As best as I can guess, he said I was doing fine.

We went to the gas station, and he bought me a cup of coffee. I remember he counted out the change on the counter by first setting a handful of coins out, and then he magically levitated a few back up into his hand, in order to make exact change.

Two days ago I saw two owls, and they both crossed my path. Click on the image for a hi-rez view.

I was driving at sunset with my friend Erika, we were driving south out of town toward my home. There is a bridge right where the highway crosses the Teton Creek just a little bit out of town, and there is a row of tall cottonwoods along this river.

Then, right above the highway we both watched the obvious silhouette of a big owl swoop across the road from left to right and toward a branch on one of the tall trees next to the road. It flapped it’s wings and it looked like it was harassing a bird on branch, and this tussle caused the other bird to take off and it flew across the road from right to left. When we saw it in flight it was obviously another owl.

So, two owls crossed our path, in two different directions.

At the time Erika and I were trying to figure out what DVD we would watch that night. One was a stand up routine by an Australian transvestite comic, the other was a presentation by investigative mythologist William Henry titled STARGATE 2012. When we saw the two owls, we both sort of declared to each other, “Well, I guess we're gunna watch the William Henry thing.”

The fact that the owls crossed my path is a sort of curios confirmation for me, and I talk about why in the beginning of this post HERE. And in that same post I tell about another odd owl crossing my path at that exact same row of cottonwoods along side Teton Creek. This was also the location of another other interesting owl sighting with it’s own blog post HERE.

Three curiously sightings of an owl crossing my path at the same spot. It’s quite probably the same owl. Now, all this said, I do live in a place with lots of owls, but still...

anti-psychotic medication

I’ve been pretty darned open on this blog about my life and my history of clinical depression. It’s been a challenge and it’s had an impact on my life.

Earlier this week I spent some time at a therapist’s office, it was my second visit to her. I have been looking to find some sort of counseling as a way to better understand my re-occurring bouts of depression.

During my first visit I was perfectly honest with this woman. I asked her how open minded she was, and then I told her about my memories and odd life experiences and how they seem intertwined with UFO related events. The implication might be that I was involved in some sort of on-going alien abduction experiences.

Just a few days ago, during our second session she asked me if I had ever considered taking anti-psychotic medication as a way to deal with my ideas about alien abduction.

Hearing that, my heart sort of sank. I explained that I didn’t feel that was in any way necessary. On one level I guess it’s fair for her to be ignorant of the subtle (and not so subtle) details of this confusing phenomenon. On another level, it felt so bleak that she would talk to me for only an hour, and come to the conclusion that I might be suffering from a of psychotic malady that might require medication.

I’ve spent the last five years (if not longer) trying to make sense of my experiences. The only conclusion I’ve reached is that something has happened. This elusive something seems to involve UFOs, synchronicities and a deep compulsion to know more.

Please note: I’m probably gunna delete this post in a few days. I know there are folks who follow this blog, and this bit of personal “gushing” might be of some value.

Various owl stories

Below is a series of five stories. I wrote these in a diary form over the last few years, but I haven't posted them. I'm including them here simply as a way to catalog 'em as part of my experiences.

In June of this year (2011) I was driving on a dirt road in late afternoon with my friend Erika. It was late afternoon on a lovely sunny day and we were in a forested area near my home known as Darby Canyon. We were driving slow because the road was bumpy, and we watched an owl swoop down in front of our window.

This was odd because it was fully daylight. Please note, the owl crossed our path.

I saw two owls in what was probably the summer of 2005. I was hiking alone in a beautiful part of the Tetons (pretty much the exact same spot as noted in THIS blog post). I was planning to spend the night out and i was enjoying the twilight on the trail. I noticed two owls that were perched in the trees above me, as I hiked past them they flew along to the next tree as if they were curious about me. This went on for about 15 minutes or so, where they would land on a branch, watch me pass, and then fly to another tree further along the trail, criss-crossing my path as I walked.

The experience was positively mystical. As best as I can remember, these were small (immature) Barred owls.

This happened in the pre-dawn on Christmas day, 2010. I was driving to the Idaho falls airport to visit my parents on the east coast. During the lonely drive I saw two owls in my headlights. Neither crossed my path, and both flew off from posts on the side of the road as my car passed them. The first one looked absolutely enormous.

In the summer of 1996 I was driving at night with a friend Peter. I had just picked him up at the Jackson Hole airport and we were driving at night to a camping spot in Grand Teton National Park. During the drive on the lonely road, a huge owl crossed our path, flashing frighteningly close to our windshield. I note this rather mundane sighting here because this was an extremely emotional time in my life, having just experienced the death of someone close to me.

In 2009 I went to a UFO conference in Laughlin Nevada, and sat in on the abductee support group, there were about 20 or so of us in the room. During the two hour session, one guy sat silently for almost the entire time, but near the end he raised his hand and cautiously asked: "Has anyone here had any experiences with owls?"

And he nearly jolted out of his chair when EVERYBODY in the room raised their hand.

He told a story of being alone in a car, and driving down a dark country road at night, on edge of the road was a giant owl, over five feet tall. He slowed the car, rolled the window down and stopped directly next to the owl. He said he got a very weird vibe, like the owl was angry and wanted him to leave and they guy drove off feeling confused and scared. Later he went to photograph an owl nest in a beautiful canyon near home, and when he saw the "real" owl in it's nest, he immediately thought, "I don't think that was an owl I saw that night."

He eventually tried to use hypnosis to try to retrieve a more detailed memory, and all he came up with was that the giant owl on the side of the road was wearing boots!

I'm cautious to read too much into this story, but it seems to be some sort of screen memory, a reoccurring pattern in abduction reports. The implication that some sort of deceptive projection was beamed into his mind making him think that the thing he saw on the side of the road was an owl - when it was actually - who knows?

There are abductions researchers who would conclude that the owl was instead a gray alien with big eyes, and they might even be right, but I am cautious to make that leap.

UFOs shaped like buildings

I just read a very strange article. Researcher Chris Holly has collected reports of UFOs shaped like buildings. A bit of Forteian weirdness that leaves me perplexed. A series of five eeirie UFO sightings, all shaped like buildings. This is a very good article, with a few photos and a drawing too.

This craft was amazing an L-shaped building complete with balconies at the rear (three of them). Below the balconies were two mesh dishes shaped similar to Butterfly wings. These were pulsing a blue/purple light and seemed to be propelling the craft.

Underside we saw three white lights with huge pipes between them. There were two lights at the rear and one light at the front. Also every straight edge was like a fluorescent tube. The craft looked as if constructed of concrete with a yellow appearance.

This craft emitted a heavy electrical humming noise as it passed over about fifty feet in the air. The building was about 6 stories high and moving along at about 50 miles per hour at top speed.

Here's a curious pattern.

1. According to Leo Sprinkle, he worked as a therapist with a woman who claimed the alien abduction experience. She was also an assistant to Carl Sagen. She stated that Dr. Sagen had a lot more knowledge about the UFO phenomenon than he was letting on. The implication was that Dr. Sagan was being purposely deceptive when he was playing the role of public sceptic about the UFOs.

2. Werner von Braun, the former Nazi scientist that was at the helm of NASA during the Apollo years. In the final years of his life he had an assistant named Carol Rosen. She now claims direct contact with alien beings, and she is speaking out about her experiences.

3. Anne Eller claims to be an alien abductee, and she was a secretary for Allen J. Hynek during the final years of his life. Mrs. Eller stated that when Dr. Hynek was near his death, he communicated to her that he had a lot more information than he was letting on. She wrote a book about her experiences titled DRAGON IN THE SKY. After his death she claims she contacted the spirit of Dr. Hynek thru a medium, and she received the message that he was a "double agent" during his time as a UFO researcher.

4. A lesser example: There is a series of immensely popular channeled book titled CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD, authored by Neale Donald Walsch. He had a secretary that claims on-going UFO contact. Her name is Lisette Larkins, and she has written a series of books. One of them, TALKING TO EXTRATERRESTRIALS has a lot of channeled material.

QUESTION:
Can anyone think of any other similar examples?

I'm left thinking that ANYONE with an important insider role would probably have an alien abductee as their secretary!

Highway 33 is at longitude 111.11

The above is a google map image. My house (the blue pointer) is along longitued -111.111066, that's SIX ones in a row. I live along highway 33, and the road itself (the red pointer) aligns with longitude -111.110476.

I'm not implying any sort of esoteric weirdness here, I just find this kind of thing interesting. That said, if there are any mystical number counters out there, lemme know what you think.

Also - The longitude of the Main Street of my little home town (the same Highway 33) is a very tidy -111.111000.

a pattern and the sense of being coaxed

I’ve been distracted an uninspired for the last few months. I haven’t put much energy into this blog, and that seems fine. No need to put pressure on myself about needing to write stuff.

But there has been a curious ongoing pattern. When I do feel inspired to write something (I have a few yet to be posted essays in the works) I’ll sit down, open up my word processing program and start typing. And within minutes, and sometime seconds, there will be an audible ping from my computer telling me that I’ve just received an email.

These emails will say something like this: I’ve been reading your blog, something about it inspired me to write you - and - I’ve had very similar experiences.

When I get letters like this, I’ll make the effort to connect, and the one-on-one conversations have been hugely gratifying for me. My energy seems low, but something out there is coaxing me further down the path.

This happened just this morning, as I was starting a post about my memories, and friendship, with Budd Hopkins. This pattern is unmistakable, and really curious. It feels like I’m being encouraged, or maybe even rewarded somehow.

Budd Hopkins died peacefully today

Budd Hopkins

June 15, 1931 - August 21, 2011

I’m very sad to announce that Budd Hopkins died today, August 21, at 1:35 pm. Budd had been under hospice care for about three weeks, at his home in New York. The combination of liver cancer and pneumonia led to his death. His daughter Grace Hopkins-Lisle and I were with him almost continuously during these past weeks. He was not in any pain throughout any of the process, and he received the best possible care and loving support from those closest to him. Today he gradually slipped away, and simply quietly stopped breathing. He died peacefully and without any struggle, with Grace, Grace’s husband Andrew, and me by his side.

Thanks to all of you for being such strong supporters of this extraordinary man, who has contributed so much to our lives, in so many different ways.

Mac Tonnies, Anya Briggs and owls

Mac Tonnies, my pal.

On September 28th, Mac Tonnies was the featured guest on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory. He was a breath of fresh air on a radio show bogged down with the dubious. As always, he spoke with remarkable clarity.

Less than a month later, he was found dead in his apartment in Kansas City.

His performance on Coast to Coast was a triumph, he was delightfully engaging on the most popular show of it’s kind. It felt like he was just about to jump to a new level of success, and this was something he deserved. I can’t help but be struck by the sad reality of what might have been.

During the 3rd hour of the show, he spoke about a friend of his who has been seeing owls. He says that this friend was self-aware enough to examine these sightings and make sure they weren’t some sort of screen memory. Mac was talking about me!

On October 1st, Mac and I had this short email exchange.

I wrote: Mac - My owl stories made it to Coast to Coast?!?!?

Mac replied: Yep. But I didn't have time to finish the story or even tell it properly.

When I read Mac’s reply I wasn’t sure what he meant. What was it in the story that he couldn’t finish? I would never have the chance to ask him.

Anya Briggs, psychic, medium and intuitive.

Fast forward to the spring of 2011, during a phone call with Anya Briggs the topic of Mac Tonnies came up, and how I felt he was cajoling me from the other side to pursue the graphic novel. Anya is a powerful psychic and she suddenly blurts out, he’s here.

She starts sharing what Mac is telling her, and then she laughs in her own voice and says, “Oh I really like this guy!”

This has happened more than once during phone calls with Anya, and each time I get sort of intimidated by the intensity of the whole thing. But there was an unanswered question, and I asked Mac through Anya.

I said, “Mac, when you were on Coast to Coast, you told a little bit of one of my owl stories, but later you emailed me that you didn’t finish the story. I never knew what you meant. What were you going to say?”

And without skipping a beat, Anya replied: “I was going to say that owls might be a kind of window into your world, and that some other force could be using those great big eyes as a tool to see into your reality. Their eyes are like a video camera, and they are the direct link, someone was watching you.”

That bit of dialog is paraphrased from memory, but it’s pretty close.

I knew instantly that Anya shared exactly what Mac would have said. This was something that Mac and I had talked about during one of our late night multi-hour chat sessions. And this idea arose from a comment I got on a blog posting from none other than Whitley Streiber. He replying to a very curious owl story, the forth post on this blog (March 4th 2009). I wore about seeing three owls, on two occasions, both times with a friend named Kristy.

I was shocked to see Whitley’s comment, and it was followed up by a comment from Mac where he explained that he told Whitley about the owl post. It was that same night where Whitley had shared his thoughts on owls, this happened during a subscribers chat forum on the UNKNOWN COUNTRY site.

I had been wondering for well over a year what Mac was hinting at when he said, “I didn't have time to finish the [owl] story,” on Coast to Coast. And when Anya communicated Mac’s answer to my question, it made perfect sense. Through some sort of magical technology, alien entities we’re watching me and Kristy through those great big eyes!

This is exactly the kind of esoteric detail that absolutely delighted Mac.

owl and the full moon

Last night I saw a lone owl, and the experience was absolutely magical. I was in the Tetons alone, and I was sleeping out under the stars in one of the most beautiful meadows imaginable.

I travel in the mountains with a tiny pack on my back. I checked the weather before leaving home, and it said that it would be a clear night, and that means no tent and thus an even smaller pack. Plus I one it was going to be a full moon, and I just NEEDED to be out there! Last night, I set my pad down on the ground just at the point that it was getting too dark to hike anymore. There is nothing in the world I love more than just sleeping out under the stars. The full moon was rising in the east, and I watched it creep it’s way up above the big peaks. Right then, I was awash in awe and amazement.

A few minutes later I was lying in my sleeping bag with a book, I was reading THE HANDPRINT OF ATLAS by an author names Sesh Heri. (more on this soon, there is a LOT of syncho-intensity connected to the book and the author, for now I'll just say it's about cosmic and terrestrial alignments)

As I was reading with my headlamp, there was a visual swoosh of something right above my head, and I sort of jumped. I looked up to see a big bird land on in a nearby tree. The moon was full so I could clearly see the silhouette of an owl. It didn’t have the cat-like ear-tufts, so I am guessing (by it’s size) that it was a Barred Owl. I'll add that it looked way too big to be perched on the spindly little branch on that dead tree.

I sat and watched it for maybe 10 minutes, and the entire time it was in a pose of scrutiny, it was looking right at me.

Now here is the amazing part, from where I was lying on the ground the tree with the owl was precisely back-lit by the full moon. The perfect symmetry was amazing! Right in that moment, I was very aware that I was seeing something spectacular. How and why it landed on that exact tree, when I was lying in that exact spot, and the full moon was in that exact point in the sky makes me think that something more was at work rather than just mere chance.

I was looking up from my sleeping bag and I asked a series of questions. What are you trying to tell me? Can you communicate with me? Why are all you owls showing up in my life. Is someone watching me through your eyes? If you wanna tell me something, I get good information through dreams (I’ll add that I didn’t have any dreams after that).

All those questions were asked out loud, addressing them directly to the owl.

When the owl did fly away, it actually sort of scared me. It flew directly AWAY from me, but that was impossible to tell in the dim light, so it looked like it was zooming right at me.

More about the short trip:
I started hiking in the afternoon yesterday, and on my way into the mountains I saw a small black bear. It was along side of the trail eating huckleberries. It was a safe distance away, and it made for a wonderful sighting.

And - I started hiking very early this morning, just as the sun was coming up. I crested a hill, and there in front of me was a WOLVERINE! It looked at me for about 30 seconds, and then crossed my path and trotted off across the high alpine tundra. Dang, those things are fast! Just so you know, it is extremely rare to see a wolverine, and I felt perfectly blessed.

Radio Mysterioso interview

Greg Bishop just posted an interview we did on March 7th of 2010, it's on his RADIO MYSERIOSO site.

My memory of those two hours were a blur, but I did remember that at the end Greg thanked me and said: "This was one of the most fun interviews I've done in a long while."

We started out with a report from and commentary on the Laughlin UFO conference. I had just returned from the 2010 meeting with a mixed bag of impressions and memories. While at the conference, I attended an abductee support meeting, which gets described in detail.

We also spoke about conversations with our late friend Mac Tonnies. His analogy of a cat chasing a laser pointer and the comparison of humans seeing UFOs occupied us for a good while. This led to a conversation about Mac’s last book The Cryptoterrestrials and how it might affect UFO research.

We went on to talk about the experience of the paranormal and how it changes lives.

I really like going down the speculative paths concerning the inter-dimensional ideas.

Mostly - I like collecting the overtly mysterious stories, stories like my own, with synchronicities, odd coincidences and high strangeness. I feel like we are the rats in the maze, and it's only rarely that we can get a glimpse upward at the scientist with his clipboard looking down.

My sense is that they can tweak us in ways that we can barely comprehend. Stuff can manifest in ways the mimic divine religious apparitions and ancient folklore. Or, it can present itself as something utterly absurd.

When I am confronted with these stories, I have to scratch my head and try and fit these nonsensical events into a hypothesis that involves metal space ships carrying little pilots and an agenda. Why oh why would that agenda be goading us with experiences of such weirdness and high strangeness?

Your (Lucretia Heart) story and speculation about the UFO landing aways from your house as an act of courtesy by the tall super-model blonds really helps me wrap my mind around the ultra weirdness. You propose that if they just emerged through an inter-dimensional doorway inside your house, their visits would be followed up by an onslaught of poltergeist activity. You speculate that if that door gets opened, weird stuff will enter your home, including orbs, synchronicities and all manner of high strangeness.

This makes so much sense to me, and it helps me to factor in the outlying data, the really weird stuff - the stuff I gravitate toward. The seductive stuff (at least for me).

So, if I go down this path, the visitors have their origins on some far off planet, and (sometimes) they travel on physical craft to get here, and (sometimes) they open up multi-dimensional doorways to enter our homes (sometimes) and as a by-product of their technology - all manner of weirdness follows through.

I speculate that SOME of that weirdness that slips through those open doors gets molded in a way that is relevant and meaningful to the victim. Instead of just a bunch of chaotic orbs and slamming doors, the events manifest as profound synchronicities that somehow mold themselves to match the psyche of the receiver.

Don't ask me HOW this happens, I just sense that it does.

This avenue of speculation allows me to join the ETH with the Ultra-Terrestrial Hypothesis in a way that is tidy enough for me to comprehend without giving myself an aneurism.

I updated my Mac operating system

Off-world computer generated effects, at the click of a mouse.

I just upgraded to Lion, and that's the latest operating system for my humble Mac. There is a program called PHOTO-BOOTH, and it has a handful of funny effects. You can choose things like sepia tone and X-Ray. But I was surprised to find that there is an effect called SPACE ALIEN. There seems to be embedded software that automatically makes the eyes bigger and changes the shape of the head to match the cover of Communion.

A while ago I would have hinted that the alien meme was seeping into our pop culture But now it's saturating it. I suspect the Reptilian overlords used back engineered technology from Roswell to create this odd effect.

Oh how the world desperately needs Mac Tonnies to chime in on this.

Here's a funny little thing that happened during our conversation, Trish and Rob spoke about their time with Budd Hopkins. They shared a story where they drove him to meet with a person who claimed a UFO abduction experience. Now this is odd because I also interviewed another author who wrote a book on sychronicity, his name is Gibbs Williams and during that discussion Gibb's also said he had worked with Budd Hopkins.

So, we have two books on synchronicity, and all the authors surprise me by bringing up Budd Hopkins during the interview!

I’ve been interacting with a lot of people who claim the UFO contact experience. And I can state this with absolute certainty, these people have MORE synchronicities than the average person without any UFO connection. Why is that?

There is a woman contactee and blogger, pen-named Lucretia Heart who took a long interview with John Mack and then interjected her own set of personal insights throughout the diolog. As always, Dr. Mack is fascinating, and her additional comments add to the wierd intensity of the topic.

This interview is posted HERE, on Lucretia's blog, a site set up specificaly to catalog her paranormal experiences.

This is a long post and I'm at a loss to truly know if the conclutions are accurate, but the content and insights are riveting.

She also included a few images Masha Tyelna, with overt implications about her weird trans-genic appearence. Something that both Mac Tonnies and Christopher Knowles have commented on, for obvious reasons. Even I posted about it in the first few weeks of my own blog (see HERE).

I wanna hear your synchronicities

Why are synchronicities so intertwined with the UFO phenomenon? This line of investigation is seemingly overlooked, but it has always fascinated me.

I've been mulling over an idea for an article as a way to explore the divergent questions raised by this set of experiences. When I say article, I mean something much more in depth than just a short little blog posting. I really want to explore this extremely curious aspect of the phenomenon. Please know, this is personal for me, and here are a bunch of my own stories.

Here's my question:

Why does almost every person who claims a direct contact experience also say their lives are plagued with profound synchronicities?

When I ask UFO abductees (a term I loathe) if they've experienced any synchronicities, their immediate reaction is to roll their eyes and exclaim, "Oh brother, it's over the top!"

Even UFO Researchers who've never had any kind of personal sighting will readily admit that they've experienced an excessive amount of meaningful coincidences, especially relating to certain cases.

owl leaves spooky imprint on window

An eerie image gets splatted onto a window

Kendal UK - A woman returned to her home to find a near perfect imprint of an owl on her window. The bird had apparently crashed into the window of Sally Arnold's home, leaving the bizarre image - complete with eyes, beak and feathers.

Experts said the silhouette was left by the bird's "powder down" - a substance protecting growing feathers. Mrs Arnold said she could find no sign of the owl, so assumed it had flown off without serious injury.

She said: "Fortunately, there was no sign of the bird and we can only assume that it had flown away probably suffering from a headache."

The frozen time-count on my humble DVD player

Here’s another 12345 bit of synchro-weirdness. The photo above is the time count on my DVD player, and no foolin’, the experience struck me as VERY strange.

On May 31, 2011 at 12:28 AM, I wrote an email to my psychic pal Anya Briggs. This letter has been edited slightly so that certian personal details remain private.

On May 31, 2011 at 12:28 AM, I wrote an email:

Anya B,

I just watched the DVD titled CATFISH. It's a documentary, and it might be fake, and it deals with an artist who falls for a girl on facebook.

There is a lot to the story, but it ends up that this girl is a fake person, who doesn't exist.

Now, the DVD culminates with a loving picture of the fake woman, a still photo from a fake facebook page, and right at that moment my DVD seizes up. The number on the time count is 1:23:45.

I back up, and try again, and the DVD freezes up at the same count. I actually video taped this happening.

Now - I have become facebook friends with a mysterious girl, I don't wanna use her name in this post. I've been worried about her because she has been "hinting" about certain drama in her life, and it might be part of the phenomenon that is the focus of this blog.

Now, the fake character in the movie has the SAME NAME as my mysterious friend! It was a close up on her face when the time counter was stuck at 1-2-3-4-5!

funny synchronicity

Here’s a funny exchange via facebook between my self and Christopher Knowles. I happened on May 31st, just a few weeks ago. The book in question was talked about during our recent interview. Lemme add that Chris and I have gone back and forth on the issue of the perceived shallowness of the New Age.

Well, this book is way over the top. But the voice of Ida is just so folksy and sassy, that it really allowed me a "way into" these nutty views.

So for some strange reason I had to take my son somewhere today. So since I had to go way out of my way I stopped at the used book store. And what's waiting there for me? An unread copy of UFOs and the Psychic Factor by Ida Kannenberg...

Get ready, this book is WONDERFUL! That sweet old grandmother has such a delightful take on this subject!

OK, so I pick up this book, thinking "what's this all about, what's it got to tell me?" and open the book up at random as I do with new non-fiction books. I open the book up to page 103 and my eyes focus on the second paragraph...

Mike Clelland:
Ha-Ha! Seems "they" manipulated your path! I love this kind of stuff. Really and truly, it just slays me.

Now check out the funny part. Here’s the first two sentences on page 103 of that cool book, this is what the the second paragraph says:

An example of these mysteries may be that we want him to read a certain type of book. We manipulate his path and so that he stumbles over certain books, which he feels “inspired” to read.

UFOs get mentioned in MAD MEN

The restaurant sequence.

I had a curious thing happen over the winter, it happened while watching the episodic television drama MAD MEN. (Episode title THE GOOD NEWS)

At about the 12 minute mark the characters are having dinner in a small dimly lit restaurant, it features Don Draper and a women from California. As I watched I had the strangest sort of day dream, what if I was in that restaurant, sitting at the table with those fictional people. I wanted to ask these fake TV characters their views about the UFO phenomenon.

At that point, about 1965 or so, the world hadn't been quite as saturated on the topic. I sat there watching, and this narrative played out in my head. I would ask them questions in the hopes of getting some different perspective on this stuff.

This was really odd. I've watched a lot of movies and TV in my life, and that feeling of wanting to enter the fictional scene and ask questions simply doesn't happen. But it did that night, and it was decidedly unusual.

The next scene was them driving home from the restaurant. This is followed by a curious scene that takes place the next morning in the full light of day. Don Draper is seen painting the wall (in his underwear) at the women's house. She sits on the couch and they talk.

Then, at the 21:20 time count the women says something that gets my attention.

Women: "I've seen UFOs."

Don: "You saw a UFO?"

Woman: "Does that scare you? The idea of another civilization on another planet smart enough to find a way to get here."

Don: "It doesn't scare me, but the odds are against it."

Woman: "Well I saw something once, and I'm telling you, it knocked me sideways. I started thinking of everything I was sure was true, and how flimsy it all might be."

Don: "You don't need to see a UFO to know that. That's not a great way to think about things."

So, I had a curious thought where I projected my self into a TV drama. I wanted to ask the characters their views on UFOs, and within minutes I get their answer. I'm not sure what it means, but lemme tell you, it felt strange.

Close up of a tiny set of three dots on my left arm. This curious scar has been there since I was in elementary school and it's faded in a way that the lower left dot is barely visible anymore..

There is a curious statistic on my side-bar. If you scroll down and look at the application titled MOST READ POSTS ON THIS SITE, EVER. The majority are audio interviews with popular authors, but there is one that seems out of place. It’s a post I did last summer titled: Tiny dots on my left arm. (linked HERE)

Why is that post so popular? It’s baffled me, until this morning.

I just recently looked at my stat-counter and found where I could check “Keyword Analysis” and found that the fourth most common way people arrive at my site is by searching out this phrase: “triangle scar left arm”

The implication is that people (from around the world) are using google as a tool to search out an answer about triangle scars on their left arms. Since last summer I’ve received a handful of comments (and emails) where people will say that they have the exact same scar, or something very similar.

The fact that this somewhat obscure post is so popular seems to indicate that there is a very pattern of people out there with odd triangle scars on their left arms, and they are seeking answers. The implications of this is extremely curious, at least to me.

A photoshop recreation that matches the memory form my youth. This shows the curious symmetry and definition of the dots. 3/8 of an in is pretty much 1 centimeter.

the golden agate

This morning I received an email from a woman named Nancy. She shared a few synchronicities, but I found one of them was particularly interesting. The text below is edited slightly.

The AGATE was given its name by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and naturalist, who discovered the stone along the shore line of the river Achates.

Dear Mike,

I’ve just discovered your very interesting podcast and yesterday listened to your 2010 interview with Gibbs Williams. I’m prompted to write you....

...I’ll share what happened just yesterday. I was walking my daily 5 miles on the beach, looking for agates and pretty rocks as usual, listening to the Gibbs’ interview. A part of my mind was observing that while there were many tourists enjoying the beach, they had left lots of agates for me to discover.

Still listening to you and Gibbs, I thought, “Wouldn’t it be ironic if I missed a huge beautiful agate because I’m looking straight ahead instead of to the left…” So I turned my head, and there, just a few feet away from me, was the largest (perhaps 5”) golden agate (my favorite) that I’ve ever found. Talk about synchronicity! I’m listening to you talk about synchronicities and at the same time, experiencing one of my own most meaningful ever.

I followed Gibbs’ suggestion to try to find the meaning and didn’t have much trouble doing so. My current “issue” or theme is trying to make sense of all the recent information on ufos, alien abductions, other realities, etc. and reconcile those ideas with my own beliefs. I associate golden agates with beauty, gifts from God/cosmic consciousness/universal forces, etc. and often find a special agate when I’ve been puzzling over something metaphysical. For me, this was a sign that I’m on the right path and eased my mind about “rushing” to figure all of this out.

Joe Montaldo has been doing UFO research for almost 30 years. He's Co-Founder, International Director and Spokesperson for I.C.A.R. the International Community for Alien Research. The organization's main focus is on Alien Abductions and the Alien Agenda. I.C.A.R. claims to have investigated over 5000 cases of Alien contact and abductions.

Just so y'know, I wrote a blog posting back in March (linked HERE) where I kind of editorialized on Joe's web presence. Please know, I like this guy and I pay attention when he talks. I've been listening closely to his on-line interviews, and they can be fascinating and informative.

Joe has a way of stating things as fact, with such absolute certainty, that leaves me hankering for the back-story for each of his claims. And, I gotta say, this long interview was satisfying for me because I could ask the questions I needed to ask to help me better understand the rich tapestry of his research and conclusions.
